Starting March 16, 2025!
We will be competing in the Melbourne Osaka Double-handed Yacht Race!

When I was in my 30s, I went out on the open sea for the first time on a long-distance yacht voyage. I still remember the moment when I saw the ocean spreading out, with the horizon drawing a gentle 360-degree curve, and was amazed at how big the Earth was.

There are no roads on the sea. Towards your destination, you steer your boat along a course that you decide based on various information, such as the weather, sea conditions, and the characteristics of your boat. Because nature cannot be controlled, you may find yourself in a merciless and harsh situation. In order to move forward even in such a situation, it is a sport that requires you to face yourself and strengthen your core.

From 2019 to 2020, I participated in the Japan-Palau Goodwill Yacht Race. I was the only female athlete to complete the 1,726 mile race from Japan to Palau. After that, I joined the Monday Night team that I met in this race, and had the opportunity to train on the Class 40 ocean racing boat that I had always dreamed of.

I've been sailing for about 20 years. I've always wanted to compete in ocean races around the world on my own yacht, but it took me a long time to get the environment to do so. That's why my passion and determination to sail on the vast ocean is incredible.

Since I decided to take on this challenge across the Pacific Ocean, some people have told me, "You'd better not do it now." The weak yen has caused financial difficulties, and the income of Japanese company employees is now at a very low level compared to the rest of the world. There are also work and time constraints. So when should I do it? Others don't have an answer to that question, and there is no reason for them to.

I think that if you accurately grasp the current situation and change it into a "possible situation," things will move forward. I have been thinking this and acting on it, and moving forward. I feel that the scenery I see changes every time I overcome each obstacle. By actually taking action, I have received support from many people both in Japan and overseas, and that is how I have come this far.

Adults, why not try new experiences? This challenge will prove that if you start moving forward in the direction of your soul, the necessary pieces will naturally come together and reality will start to move in the direction you want it to. I will see it through, believing that the day will come when we can share joy in oneness with all of you who support us, so I would be delighted if you would join me as a Jazz Player.
